Northern Territory Major Events Company Event Funding

Festivals and events deliver a strong cultural identify for a region, and have the potential to deliver broader economic and social benefits for the community and the Territory.

The Northern Territory Government’s Department of Tourism and Culture’s vision is to create compelling reasons to live in and visit the Northern Territory. Tourism is a cornerstone of the NT economy, supporting thousands of small and medium size businesses and 17,000 direct and indirect jobs across a range of sectors.

The Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) facilitates a bi-annual funding program to create new and develop existing events to better engage the local community, attract visitors and showcase the Northern Territory.

Funding available includes:

Community Festivals - to support festivals and events that make the Territory a more enjoyable place to live, and reveal the Territory's rich histories and cultures.

Event Development Funding - supports events to grow their audiences through expanded programing; and

Strategic Development Funding - provides one-off funding support to undertake projects which build capability, sustainability and ensure a safe event environment, as well as support for event marketing.

Two funding rounds will be held in 2019. Round one will be open for submissions from 9 July - 9 August 2019. Round two will be open for submissions from 3 - 28 February 2020.

If you have any questions about this funding, please email ntmec.grants@nt.gov.au or call 08 8999 5265 or 08 8999 5330 during business hours
